Christ Redeemer Always

God would have us to know that the way we become re-connected with him is by the blood of Jesus. Through the blood of Jesus we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins. (Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14) Let me be simple and clear as to what this means. Simply stated Jesus became a sin-offering for us. The “shed blood of Jesus” is the only thing that can cleanse us from sin and the consciousness thereof. (Heb. 10:4)

The Blood of Redemption

It is impossible to adequately discuss the redemptive work of Christ without paying due diligence to the blood. We who were far of have now been made near by his blood, having free access to the Father. (Eph. 2:13, 18) It is by the blood we have eternal redemption. (Eph. 9:12) Without the blood there is no redemption, nor is there any purging or cleansing. (Eph. 9:22) The Bible tells of many who wrought great works, and did wondrous things, and suffered great peril, yet received not the promise. (Heb. 11:39) They died in their sins for their sin offerings and sacrifices could not take away sin. (Heb.10:4) But we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus. (1Pet. 1:18 & 19) The redemptive work of Christ didn’t end at forgiveness of sin only, but it also washes our sins away. (1Jon. 1:9)

The Cleansing Blood

Although it is true Jesus became our sin-offering many think the only thing we receive through the blood is the forgiveness of sin. However, man has never been allowed to approach God in any state of uncleanness. (Ex. 19:9-11; Lev. 16:16-35; Num. 8:5-7; 2Chr. 29:31) Under Moses there were two ceremonial processes required before worship. Sacrificial and cleansing rites were administered by the priest in preparation for approach to God. The sacrifice or offering for sin (Lev. 1:4, 4:1-35, 5:1-19) and the cleansing or purification for defilement (Lev. chap 11-16). The condition of man is such that he needs a pardoning of sins, and a cleansing from the filthiness of the flesh. (Jer. 33:8; Ezek. 36:25, 37:23) That brings us to the all in one cleansing blood of Jesus. (1 Jon.1:7) “The bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priests for sin are burned without the camp. Wherefore, Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his blood, suffered without the gate;” (Heb. 13:11 & 12) The people of God no longer have need for any purifying ritual or sprinkling of blood and ashes. (Heb. 9:13) Nor are we obligated to keep our camps clean as in time pass. (Num. 5:3; Deut. 23:14, Jos. 6:8) Jesus the complete remedy for sin redeemed us and washed us in his blood, (Heb. 10:10; Rev. 1:7, 5:9, 7:17), giving us access to him without the camp. (Heb. 4:16, 13:13-16)

Conclusion

We were reconciled to God by the death of his son our Lord and Savior Jesus. Our redemption was always in God’s plan and our Lord and Savior, the Holy One of Israel has always been our redeemer. (Isa. 43:14, 44:24, 48:17, 54:5, 59:20) The prophet Isaiah proclaimed him Savior and Redeemer. (Isa. 60:16) Not only does he proclaim him Savior and Redeemer Isaiah, also says without doubt he is the Everlasting Father. (Isa. 63:16) Matthew identifies and calls him by name. (Mat. 1:21) In the words of Job, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:” (Job 19:25). For these reasons we believe and teach Christ Redeemer always.
