Foreknowledge

We understand foreknowledge to be awareness and anticipation of events before they happen or to know before hand. Only God can be said to truly have foreknowledge. (1 Cor. 13:9) The foreknowledge of God can be attributed to his infinite wisdom and knowledge. (Psa. 147:5; Isa. 46:10; Heb. 4:13; 1Jon. 3:20) We know nothing of God aside from what is revealed to us through the Holy Scriptures and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. God, however, knows everything there is to know about man and the affairs of man. (Psa. 33:13-15, 139:11 & 12; Prov. 15:3; Acts 15:18) In stating this let me further say, an omnipotent God knows, however, what he chooses to know. God has revealed to us through his Word, the things he foreknew concerning the affairs and plight of man. God knew before hand that man would sin and fall. Out of this knowledge God devised a plan to redeem man from his sins.

Redemption

Foreknowledge and predestination were both used to fashion Godís redemptive plan. (Rom. 8:29) God by his foreknowledge chose certain key individuals to carryout specific assignments in his, ìplan of salvationî. Moses the deliverer (Psa. 106:23), Saul the first king (2 Sam. 21:6), David the second king (Psa. 89:3), Paul messenger to the gentiles (Acts 9:15), Jesus the Christ our redeemer (Lu. 23:35). The Church the elect of God was chosen by foreknowledge. Not only was The Church chosen by God but predestined to eternal salvation through Christ. (Mat. 16:18, Acts 2:4, Eph. 5:23, 27; Heb. 12:23) Man has a choice, he can choose life or he can chose death. Life and salvation is through the body of Christ, i.e. The Church. Man can also choose death, i.e. he can reject Christ. God out of his foreknowledge has devised a plan of redemption for man. The man has free choice to accept it or reject it. (Jos. 24:15) God by foreknowledge, election and predestination has provided away of escape for his people.

Conclusion

God knows all and sees all, whether he causes it, causes some of it, or simply allows it to happen. Godís foreknowledge is not limited by any other action he might undertake as the only sovereign, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscience One. God by his foreknowledge has revealed to his people what is to become of man. So we believe and teach others to believe.
